The Blue Tit is one of the most familiar visitors to our gardens who readily use nest boxes if available. By providing them with a home, you are helping to conserve their population and helping to reintroduce them to your garden.
Other small wild birds such as the Coal Tit and Wren use this nest box in the winter to shelter from stormy and freezing winter weather, typical to the Irish climate.
Blue Tits prefer to use nest boxes with an entrance hole of 25-27mm in diameter which also prevents larger, more dominant species from entering the nest box.
The grey, non-toxic paintwork and zinc roof allow this wild bird next box to subtlety fit in with modern and traditional gardens.
Position the nest box in a quiet area at least 2.5m from the ground, out of direct sunlight and prevailing wind and rain. Ensure the wild birds have a direct flight path to the entrance.
The hinging opening at the base of the nest box allows you to open for easy cleaning in the Autumn.
