Allium Christophii bulbs produce a large, round flower head up to 20cm in diameter. The blooming flower head is made up of many purple, lilac star-shaped flowers adored by butterflies and bees. The bulb will grow to produce a flower standing 60cm tall.
Allium Christophi looks fantastic planted amongst other bulbs too and alongside other varieties of Allium to create interest. A great bulb to follow on from daffodils.
Allium Christophii is suitable for naturalising, allowing you to multiply the blooms.
When the flower has passed its best, Allium Christophii continues to look beautiful as a dried flower.
Plant the Allium Christophi bulbs between September and December in a full sun location. Expect the plant to bloom during the Summer from June.
If you want to see blooms opening over a longer and staggered period during the summer, stagger planting of the bulbs over a number of weeks in the Autumn and early Winter.
Sow the bulbs 3-4 times their size in dept, with the pointed end pointing upwards. A bulb planter will help with preparing a planting hole.
Plant en-mass for the best result. Considering the size of the flowers is approx 20cm in diameter, don't plant the bulbs too close together.
Feed the plant once foliage appears.
Suitable for garden borders, flower beds, pots and containers.
Use a Dibber for planting bulbs.
