Our Green Roof Native Wildflower Seed Mix is designed to provide maximum colour and bloom on a pitched green roof.

Green Roofs in Ireland are becoming increasingly popular as people look to increase biodiversity and ad a natural ambiance to their home.

The mixture of 10+ wildflower species native to Ireland are suitable for green roof systems which tend to be dry and shallow.

This Green Roofs Wildflower Seed Mix for pitched green roofs may also be suitable for walls and areas where soil is shallow.

This is a mixture of perennial native species only.

Green Roofs are a unique opportunity to support biodiversity by attracting a whole host of butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects to your home. A living roof helps support biodiversity by providing safety, shelter and food on areas that would otherwise be an empty space.

The native wildflowers in this mix are of varying heights but are generally low-medium height in growth. From the beautiful purple of the low-growing selfheal to the tall umbrella-shaped flowers of the wild carrot, this mix will provide long-lasting colour and interest from April until September.

For best establishment, this mix should be sown into a substrate that is at least 75mm in depth. A depth of 100mm and above is preferable. Seeds are sown at a rate of 3g/m2 and are sown on to the surface of the green roof substrate.

Native Wildflower species include:

Common Knapweed, Greater Knapweed, Wild Carrot, Lady's Bedstraw, Field Scabious, Oxeye Daisy, Common Toadflax, Birdsfoot Trefoil, Musk Mallow, Hoary Plantain, Cowslip, Self Heal.
